How to log on to Windows XP if administrator password is lost.
Hi all,
What happens if the administrator password is lost when demanded on login screen. Do the following steps to recover from such a hassle situation.
-
With your Windows XP CD in the cd-rom drive and boot your computer
-
Press any key when you read “Press any key to boot from cd” on the screen
-
The first screen will indicate that Setup is inspecting the system hardware and loading files
-
When you get to the Welcome screen, press ENTER to Setup Windows now
-
Press F8 to accept the Licensing Agreement
-
The next screen gives you the option to start a Repair process. Use the arrow keys to select your XP installation (if you only have one, it should already be selected) and press R to begin the Repair process
-
Setup will now check your disks and then start copying files which can take several minutes. Shortly after this stage you will be required to reboot
-
During the reboot do not press any key to boot from the CD again. Setup will resume automatically with the standard screen
-
Keep your eye on the lower left hand side of the screen. When you see the Installing Devices progress bar, press SHIFT + F10. A command console will now open up giving you a wide access to the system
-
At the prompt, type NUSRMGR.CPL and press Enter. You have gained graphical access to your User Accounts in the Control Panel
-
Now remove or change your password as you prefer. Once the Repair is done, you will be able to log on with your new password. Your programs and personalized settings should remain intact.

How to make vertical text selection in Microsoft Word
Hi all,
Hope all are addicted to the Microsoft Word although plenty of open source writers are available. I hope Microsoft Word is ahead of all, as it was user friendly. (Recently used the Zoho Writer. It looks much more better than MS word and it was quite user friendly too. Hats off to the Zoho development team. Sure, expecting a tough competition to Microsoft office suite and Google too). Frequently users when need to select an excerpt of a document, use of mouse to select and drag it. It will be selected in row order.
Ok. How to select an excerpt of document in vertical manner(I mean of selecting a particular column). In such case use a combination of ALT key along with the mouse selection of the text.
NOTE: The above hint works only for Microsoft Word.

Tips to log on to Windows after Activation expiry
Hi all,
For a Windows operating system with out activation, after 30 days the users are not allowed to log on to the system. So user might face a situation to lose the data kept on the drive until Windows OS is activated. Let me prescribe some tips to access the data files(with some restriction to full control in registered Windows OS) even after the 30 days of Windows activation expiry.
A computer having Windows operating system without activation, after 30 days would prompt for the login screen as usual. Even when provided with the authorized password, it wont allow you up to the drive and ‘Activate Windows’ screen is opened. Click on the ‘Yes’ button and the ‘Lets activate Windows’ screen is opened.
NOTE: Dont close this window and just minimise the screen.
Then just press a key combination of Windows and ‘U’. This will open up the narrator program. In the title bar of the Narrator screen, click on the small computer icon(preceded by the title ‘Narrator’) and select the ‘About Narrator’. A seperate ‘About Narrator’ screen will be displayed. In the mid of the About Narrator screen, click on the Microsoft Web sites and the default browser will be loaded with the microsoft website. In the address bar of the browser just type the directory you need to access. And from there you could access the files.
