Enhancements in Gmail

Hi all,

Hope you all could have used Gmail account. Here with this article, I am giving you some guidelines of how to make use of your Gmail account usable. You might all know the feature ‘Filter’ available in the Gmail. Let me explain on the Filter for those who are unaware of it. You might be in a situation to move on mail from a particular user to a Label. For such cases, create a filter and set with the criteria such as set the Sender mail ID in the text box corresponding to ‘From’. And on the next step, just select the checkbox ‘Skip Inbox’ if you need to skip those mail from the Inbox and select the ‘Star it’ if you like to flag those mail. Select the label where those mail need to be moved on from Inbox. The most important feature is the filtered mail can also be forwarded to any other mail account(need not be compulsorily Gmail account. It could be yahoo too). Perhaps this could be known to everyone.

I am having some questions regarding Gmail account.

  • Is it possible to add ‘+’ symbol in the receiver mail id when sending mail? (Suppose I need to mail for steyn@robert.com. Instead can i send as steyn+robert@gmail.com)

  • If i send mail so, will I get the failure report?

Perhaps the receiver will sure receive the message. It is allowed to have ‘+’ symbol in the gmail id at the end of userid while sending the mail. (The symbol ‘+’ is not allowed at the Gmail account creation). And one more to add upon, in the above sample mail id steyn+robert@gmail.com, if you have a filter in the name of ‘robert’ and configured for the sender, the mail will be added onto the label ‘robert’

Hope this could be useful to you.
